Odoo ERP services for businesses that have outgrown their tools

Odoo puts accounting, inventory, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, CRM, eCommerce, HR and dozens of other applications on one PostgreSQL database. For a company running a patchwork of QuickBooks, spreadsheets and a standalone web shop, that single database is the point: an order placed online reserves stock, triggers a replenishment, and posts revenue without anyone re-keying it.

Overview

The short version

We implement, extend, connect and support Odoo for small and mid-sized businesses. Most of our clients are moving off entry-level accounting software or an ageing on-premise ERP, and they want a system that will still fit when they have doubled in size.

We are an independent services firm. We will help you decide between Community and Enterprise, between Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and self-hosting, and — when it is the honest answer — between Odoo and something else entirely.

ERP Builders is an independent Odoo services company and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Odoo S.A. “Odoo” is a trademark of Odoo S.A.

01

What Odoo does well, and where it needs care

Odoo's strength is breadth with shared data. The modules use the same partners, products, units of measure and accounting entries, so cross-functional processes — quote to cash, procure to pay, plan to produce — work without integration glue between departments.

Its weak spots are predictable. Very high transaction volumes need database and worker tuning. Some industry-specific depth (process manufacturing with complex potency calculations, for example) requires extension. And because customisation is easy, it is also easy to over-customise and make every annual upgrade expensive.

Single data model

Customers, vendors, products and accounts are shared by every app, which removes most departmental re-keying.

Modular adoption

You can start with sales, inventory and invoicing and add manufacturing or helpdesk later without migrating data again.

Open, extensible code

Python, the Odoo ORM and XML views make extensions straightforward for experienced developers — and risky for inexperienced ones.

Annual release cycle

A new major version ships each year. Planning for upgrades from day one keeps the cost of staying current manageable.

02

Community or Enterprise

Odoo Community is open source and free to use. Odoo Enterprise is licensed per user and adds applications and features that many businesses rely on — full accounting, Studio, the barcode app, Helpdesk, Field Service, Quality, PLM and the official upgrade service among them.

The decision is rarely about licence cost alone. Community plus community-maintained modules can work well for a technically capable team. Enterprise usually wins when you want vendor-supported upgrades, the mobile barcode workflows, or the accounting depth without assembling it yourself. We will price both against your actual requirements.

03

Hosting options

Odoo Online is Odoo's SaaS: the fastest to start, upgraded for you, but it does not allow custom Python modules. Odoo.sh is a managed platform with Git-based deployments, staging branches and custom code support. Self-hosting on your own cloud gives full control at the price of owning backups, security patching and performance.

For most clients who need any custom development, Odoo.sh or a well-run self-hosted environment is the practical choice. We set up staging, backup verification and monitoring either way.

Odoo Online

Standard apps and Studio only. Good for businesses whose processes fit the standard product closely.

Odoo.sh

Custom modules, Git workflow, staging and production branches, managed infrastructure.

Self-hosted

AWS, Azure, GCP or on-premise. Full control over infrastructure, integrations and data residency.

Process

How we deliver it

  1. 01

    Fit assessment

We map your core processes against standard Odoo and mark each gap as configure, extend, integrate or defer.

  2. 02

    Phased plan

A first phase that delivers working value — typically sales, inventory, purchasing and accounting — with later phases scheduled rather than crammed in.

  3. 03

    Build and migrate

Configuration, custom modules where justified, and scripted data migration with at least two full rehearsals.

  4. 04

    Go-live and support

Cutover, hypercare through the first period close, then an ongoing support arrangement sized to your team.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is ERP Builders an official Odoo partner?

No. We are an independent Odoo services company. We do not resell licences, and our recommendations — including whether you need Enterprise at all — are not tied to vendor incentives.

How many users does Odoo handle?

Odoo runs comfortably for companies with a handful of users up to several hundred concurrent users when the database, workers and custom code are tuned properly. Transaction volume and inefficient custom code matter more than user count.

Can we start small and add apps later?

Yes, and we usually recommend it. Because every app shares the same database, adding manufacturing or helpdesk later does not require a second migration — only configuration, testing and training.

Will customisations break when Odoo releases a new version?

Custom modules need to be migrated to each new version. Well-structured modules that inherit standard behaviour rather than overwrite it migrate with modest effort. Heavily patched systems are what make upgrades painful.
