Odoo Inventory uses double-entry stock moves between locations, which gives it real flexibility: multi-step receipts and deliveries, cross-docking, dropshipping, consignment and multi-warehouse replenishment can all be expressed as routes and rules.

The short version
That flexibility is also its main risk. A poorly designed route structure produces phantom transfers, stock stuck in intermediate locations and valuation that does not match the ledger. We design locations, routes and operation types on paper with your warehouse lead before configuring anything.

Inventory accuracy after go-live
Accuracy is a process, not a feature. We set up cycle counting by location or ABC class, define who can make inventory adjustments, and build a weekly exception report covering negative stock, old reservations and transfers stuck in progress. Those three reports catch most problems before they reach the balance sheet.

Can Odoo handle multiple warehouses?
Yes. Multiple warehouses, each with their own locations, routes and replenishment rules, plus inter-warehouse transfers, are standard.
Do we need the barcode app?
For any warehouse doing more than a handful of picks a day, scanning dramatically reduces errors. The Odoo barcode app is part of Enterprise; alternatives exist for Community.
Can Odoo track expiry dates?
Yes. With lot tracking and expiration dates enabled, Odoo can manage best-before, removal and alert dates and pick using FEFO.
