Odoo Accounting configured by people who understand a close

Odoo Accounting brings the general ledger, receivables, payables, bank reconciliation, assets, budgets and analytic accounting onto the same database as sales, purchasing and inventory. Done well, that means invoices, bills and stock valuation flow into the ledger automatically and the month-end close gets much shorter.

Overview

The short version

Done carelessly, it means a ledger full of entries nobody can explain. The difference is configuration: accounts mapped correctly on product categories, taxes set up through fiscal positions rather than manual overrides, and inventory valuation that the finance team actually understands.

ERP Builders is an independent Odoo services company and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Odoo S.A. “Odoo” is a trademark of Odoo S.A.

01

What we configure

Each area is reviewed with your finance lead or external accountant.

Chart of accounts and localisation

Country localisation package as the base, adjusted to your reporting structure, with analytic plans for departments, projects or locations.

Taxes and fiscal positions

Tax rates, grids for returns, and fiscal positions for cross-border, exempt and reverse-charge scenarios.

Bank feeds and reconciliation

Bank synchronisation or statement imports, reconciliation models that auto-match recurring patterns, and payment provider clearing accounts.

Inventory valuation

Perpetual valuation with stock input, output and valuation accounts per category, and an agreed costing method.

Multi-company and currency

Inter-company transactions, consolidation approach and exchange-rate handling for foreign-currency invoices and bank accounts.

Close process

Accruals, deferrals, asset depreciation and a documented month-end checklist that uses Odoo's lock dates.

02

Moving from QuickBooks, Xero or Sage

Most of our accounting migrations start from QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or Tally. We migrate the chart of accounts (usually restructured), customers, vendors, open invoices and bills, and opening balances at a period end. Comparative history for reporting can be loaded as monthly summary balances, which is far cheaper than migrating every transaction.

Frequently asked questions

Is Odoo Accounting available in Community?

Community includes invoicing and basic accounting capabilities. Full accounting features such as advanced reconciliation, reporting, assets and budgets are part of Odoo Enterprise. We confirm the current split for your version during scoping.

Can Odoo handle our statutory reporting?

Localisation packages cover many countries' tax reports and statutory requirements. Each should be validated by your accountant, and some jurisdictions require additional e-invoicing or reporting configuration.

Can our external accountant work in Odoo?

Yes. Accountants can be given access with appropriate rights, and many accounting firms already work with Odoo clients.
