Odoo Payment Providers: Stripe, PayPal and More
How to set up payment providers in Odoo for online payments: Stripe, PayPal, Adyen, Razorpay, saved cards, payment links, fees and bank reconciliation.
Getting paid faster is one of the quickest wins in an ERP project. Odoo payment providers let customers pay invoices, quotes and online orders by card and other methods.
Supported providers
Odoo supports many providers out of the box, including Stripe, PayPal, Adyen, Razorpay and others, depending on version and country. Choose based on your country, currencies, fees and payment methods your customers use.
Setting up a provider
- Create an account with the provider.
- In Odoo, open the payment provider and enter the API keys.
- Choose the payment methods to show.
- Set the payment journal.
- Test in test mode, then switch to live.
Where customers pay
- Invoices: a "Pay Now" link in the invoice email and portal
- Quotes: online signature and payment to confirm
- Website and eCommerce: checkout
- Payment links: created from any document and sent by email or chat
Saved cards and subscriptions
Providers that support tokenisation let customers save a card for future payments. This is essential for subscriptions.
Reconciliation
Online payments are recorded on an outstanding receipts account. When the provider pays out to your bank, the bank statement line is matched with the payments, and fees go to an expense account. Set up reconciliation models to automate this.
Fees
Fees differ by provider, card type and country. For B2B, bank transfer or direct debit may be cheaper for large invoices.
Security
Card data is handled by the provider, not stored in Odoo. Keep API keys secret and give access only to administrators.
Checklist
- Pick the provider and test account.
- Configure methods and currencies.
- Add the payment link to invoice emails.
- Set up reconciliation models.
- Test a payment, a refund and a payout.
