Free Hospital Management Software: Open-Source Options That Work
Free and open-source hospital management software compared: what Odoo Community covers for hospitals, where clinical modules come in, and what a free setup really costs.
Healthcare · Odoo ERP Services
Overview
Be clear about one thing first. Odoo Community is a general ERP, not a clinical system. It has no patient medical records, prescriptions or lab results out of the box. Those come from a healthcare module (open-source or third-party) or a separate hospital information system that connects to Odoo. Adding one is extra work that we quote separately.
Hosting is also not included. Patient data is sensitive, so where Odoo is hosted matters. You choose and pay for the hosting; we'll help you pick one that meets your data protection rules.
Free Odoo setup
We install and set up Odoo Community, the free open-source edition of Odoo, at no cost. There is no licence fee for the software and no charge for the setup.
Odoo Community is licensed under LGPLv3: no licence fee, no user limit and no expiry.
We install Odoo Community on your server and set up the core apps your business needs.
Hosting is not included. You run Odoo on your own server or cloud account and pay your hosting provider directly. We can recommend options.
Data migration, customisation, integrations and training go beyond setup. We quote them up front, so nothing is billed without your agreement.
Focus areas
Medicines and consumables with lot numbers and expiry dates, stock by store and ward, and reorder rules.
Purchase orders, supplier price lists and receipts checked against what was ordered.
Invoices and payments for services and items, with taxes set up for your country.
Point of sale for an over-the-counter pharmacy, on the same stock as the wards.
Employee records, departments and time off for doctors, nurses and support staff.
Medical equipment register with preventive maintenance schedules.
Approach
We map how stock, purchasing and billing work across your hospital, then set up those Odoo Community apps for free. Patient registration, clinical records and appointments are scoped separately: either a healthcare module on Odoo or an integration with your existing hospital system.
We'll be straight about whether open-source ERP is the right fit. A small clinic often runs well on it; a large hospital usually needs a dedicated clinical system alongside the ERP.
