What Odoo Community covers
Odoo Community's invoicing and accounting features include:
- Customer invoices and credit notes
- Vendor bills and refunds
- Payments, and matching them to invoices and bills
- Taxes set up for your country
- Chart of accounts and journal entries
- Analytic accounts, to track income and cost by project or department
- Multi-currency
Because invoices come from sales orders and bills from purchase orders, a lot of entries happen without anyone typing them.
What's in Enterprise
Full accounting features sit in Odoo Enterprise. They include:
- Financial reports such as profit and loss, balance sheet and aged balances, with drill-down
- Advanced bank reconciliation tools
- Many country-specific tax return reports
- Budgets, assets and deferred revenue tools

When free accounting is enough
Community works well when:
- Your accountant uses their own software for year-end and returns
- You mainly need invoicing, bills, payments and tax on documents
- You're happy to add OCA reporting modules
Consider Enterprise when your finance team closes the books in Odoo every month and needs full reports and reconciliation there.
What it costs
The software is free. Budget for hosting, your accountant's time to review the setup, and importing opening balances.
