Odoo Reporting and Dashboards: A Practical Guide
How to get useful reports from Odoo: pivot and graph views, saved filters, dashboards, spreadsheet reports, custom PDF reports and when to add Power BI.
Most companies use only a fraction of Odoo's reporting. Before buying a BI tool, make sure you are using what is already there.
List, pivot and graph views
Almost every menu in Odoo has list, pivot and graph views. With filters and group-by, you can answer most questions:
- Sales by salesperson and month
- Stock value by warehouse and category
- Overdue invoices by customer
Pivot views can be expanded on rows and columns and downloaded to Excel.
Saved filters and favourites
Once a view shows what you need, save it as a favourite. Share it with the team so everyone uses the same definition, for example of "open orders".
Dashboards
Add favourite views to a personal dashboard for a daily snapshot. Keep dashboards to five or six items, or nobody looks at them.
Odoo spreadsheets
In Enterprise, Odoo spreadsheets are linked live to Odoo data. You can insert pivots and lists, add formulas and charts, and the data refreshes on open. This replaces many exported Excel reports, without copy and paste.
Financial reports
Accounting includes the profit and loss, balance sheet, general ledger, aged receivables and payables, tax reports and more. Customise lines to match how management reads the numbers. See our Odoo accounting setup guide.
Custom PDF reports
Customer-facing documents and printed reports use QWeb templates. A developer can change layouts or build new PDF reports, such as a packing list with extra fields.
When to add BI
Add a BI tool like Power BI when you need:
- Data from Odoo combined with other systems
- Heavy historical analysis over millions of records
- Board-level reporting with complex calculations
For self-hosted Odoo, a read-only database replica avoids slowing down users.
KPIs worth tracking

Tips
- Agree definitions before building reports.
- Fix data quality first; reports only show what is recorded.
- Train key users on pivot views. It is the highest-value hour of training in Odoo.

Frequently asked questions
Can I build my own reports in Odoo without coding?
Yes. Pivot and graph views, saved filters, dashboards and Odoo spreadsheets let users build most reports without code.
Can Odoo connect to Power BI?
Yes, through a read-only database connection, an API-based connector or exported data. A read-only reporting replica is the cleanest option for self-hosted systems.
