ERP KPIs: The Reports Every Business Should Track
The ERP KPIs worth tracking by department: sales, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, finance and service, with how to define them and review them each week.
An ERP holds the data for most business KPIs. The challenge is choosing a few that matter, defining them clearly and reviewing them every week.

- Quote conversion rate
- Average order value
- Order backlog
Inventory
- Stock accuracy: counted vs system quantity
- Inventory turns: cost of goods sold divided by average stock value
- Days of stock on hand
- Dead and slow-moving stock
- Stockouts on key items
See our inventory management guide.
Purchasing
- Vendor on-time delivery
- Purchase price variance
- Lead time accuracy
Fulfilment
- On-time in-full (OTIF) deliveries

- Picking accuracy
Manufacturing

Define before you build
For each KPI write down the formula, the data source, the owner and the target. "Stock accuracy" can mean five different things. Agree one.
Review rhythm
- Weekly: operational KPIs with team leads
- Monthly: financial and trend KPIs with management
Keep each review short and focused on actions.
In Odoo and ERPNext
Both provide pivot reports, dashboards and spreadsheets. See Odoo reporting and dashboards. For multi-system reporting, connect a BI tool such as Power BI.
Frequently asked questions
How many KPIs should a business track?
A handful per department, reviewed regularly. Too many KPIs means none get attention.
Can ERP calculate KPIs automatically?
