ERPNext accounting your finance team can rely on

ERPNext includes full double-entry accounting with no separate licence: a configurable chart of accounts, cost centres and accounting dimensions, receivables and payables, payment terms, bank reconciliation, budgets, multi-company and multi-currency, and period closing.

Overview

The short version

Because selling, buying and stock post to the ledger automatically, the quality of the accounting setup decides whether those postings are useful. We configure it with your finance team so management accounts come out of the system rather than out of a spreadsheet.

ERP Builders is an independent ERPNext services company and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Frappe Technologies. “ERPNext” and “Frappe” are trademarks of Frappe Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

01

What we configure

These are the foundations of every financial report ERPNext produces.

Chart of accounts and dimensions

An account tree that matches how you report, with cost centres and custom accounting dimensions such as branch, project or product line.

Taxes

Sales and purchase tax templates, item tax templates and tax categories; in India, GST returns, e-invoicing and e-way bills through India Compliance.

Banking and payments

Bank accounts, statement import, the bank reconciliation tool, payment entries and payment requests with links on invoices.

Close and controls

Accounting periods, closing vouchers, role permissions on submit and cancel, and approval workflows on payments.

02

Multi-company and multi-currency

Several companies can share one ERPNext site, each with its own chart of accounts, while sharing customers, suppliers and items. Inter-company sales and purchases can be mirrored automatically when configured.

Transactions can be raised in any currency, with exchange rates fetched or entered and realised and unrealised gains and losses handled by the system. Consolidated reporting across companies uses the standard financial statements with the right account mapping.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can ERPNext replace Tally or QuickBooks?

For most SMBs, yes — and it adds integrated inventory, purchasing, manufacturing and payroll that Tally and QuickBooks do not. Finance teams need some retraining, mainly on how stock and sales transactions post automatically.

Is ERPNext GST compliant?

With the India Compliance app, ERPNext supports GST invoices, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B reports, e-invoicing and e-way bills. We configure and test it against your GST registrations and transaction types.

Does ERPNext handle VAT outside India?

Yes, through tax templates and country chart-of-accounts templates. Statutory return formats vary by country, so we confirm reporting requirements with your accountant during design.

Next step

Moving your books into ERPNext?

We will design the accounting setup with your finance team and migrate cleanly at a period boundary.
