ERP training built around the jobs people actually do

The quickest way to waste an ERP investment is to train everyone on everything, once, a week before go-live, using demo data. People forget most of it, then improvise — and improvisation in an ERP shows up as bad data.

Overview

What erp training involves

We train by role, on the specific transactions each person will perform, in an environment loaded with their own customers, products and open orders. Then we leave behind short, task-based guides they can refer to on day thirty, not just day one.

01The problem

Where things usually go wrong

01

Generic training

Everyone sits through the same overview, so nobody learns their own job in depth.

02

Demo data

Training scenarios use fictional products and customers that do not reflect real complexity.

03

Training too early or too late

Weeks before go-live, people forget; days before, there is no time to practise.

04

No help for new starters

Six months after go-live, new employees learn from whoever happens to sit nearby.

02Our approach

How we handle it

Training is planned from a role matrix: every role, the transactions it performs and the screens it uses. Sessions are short and practical, followed by hands-on exercises in a training environment that mirrors production.

For larger organisations, we run train-the-trainer programmes so internal super-users can support colleagues and onboard new staff. Every role gets a set of quick-reference guides — one page per task, with screenshots from your system.

Role matrix

Mapping of roles to transactions, screens and permissions.

02

Role-based sessions

Focused training per role with hands-on exercises.

03

Train-the-trainer

Developing internal super-users who can support and onboard others.

04

Quick-reference guides

One-page task guides with screenshots from your system.

05

Video walkthroughs

Short recorded walkthroughs of common tasks for self-service learning.

06

Refresher and new-starter training

Periodic sessions after go-live and for new employees.

04Technical considerations

Details that decide whether it holds up

01

Training environment

A copy of the configured system with realistic data, refreshed before each training wave.

02

Permission alignment

Training accounts use the same roles as production so people see exactly what they will see live.

03

Scenario scripts

Exercises based on real situations: partial shipments, returns, price disputes, short deliveries.

04

Competency checks

Short practical checks to confirm readiness before go-live.

05Process

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Analyse

Build the role matrix and identify training needs.

  2. 02

    Prepare

    Training environment, scenarios and materials.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Role-based sessions timed close to go-live.

  4. 04

    Reinforce

Floor support at go-live and refresher sessions afterwards.

06Outcomes

What you should expect afterwards

Faster adoption

People are productive on the new system sooner.

Cleaner data

Fewer mistakes from guesswork and improvisation.

Self-sufficiency

Internal super-users and guides reduce dependence on outside help.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you train on systems you did not implement?

Yes. We review the configuration first so the training matches how your system actually works.

Is training delivered on-site or remotely?

Both. Remote sessions work well for most office roles; warehouse and shop-floor training often benefits from being on-site.

How long does training take?

It depends on the role. Many roles need a few focused hours plus practice; finance and planning roles typically need more.
