Odoo Email Marketing: Lists, Campaigns, Results
How to use Odoo Email Marketing: mailing lists and segments from CRM data, templates, domain authentication for deliverability, A/B tests and campaign reporting.
The best email segments come from purchase history, and that data already sits in your ERP. Odoo Email Marketing lets you send campaigns straight from it.
Mailing lists vs segments
Odoo can send to two kinds of audience:
- Mailing lists: people who signed up, such as newsletter subscribers
- Filtered records: contacts, leads or customers matching a filter, such as "bought product X in the last 12 months"
Filtered audiences are where Odoo shines. You can target customers by product category, country, salesperson or CRM stage without exporting anything.
Templates
Use the drag-and-drop editor to build a few reusable templates: newsletter, product announcement and event invite. Keep them simple and mobile friendly. Most opens happen on phones.
Deliverability
Before your first campaign, authenticate your domain:
- SPF authorises Odoo's servers to send for your domain
- DKIM signs your emails
- DMARC tells receivers what to do with failures
Without these, emails are likely to land in spam. Also clean old lists and remove addresses that bounce.
A/B testing
Odoo can send variants to a small share of the list and pick the winner by open or click rate, then send the winning version to the rest. Test subject lines first; they have the biggest effect.
Tracking results
Each campaign shows sent, opened, clicked, replied and bounced. With UTM tracking, leads and orders from the campaign are linked back to it, so you see revenue, not just clicks.
Automation
Multi-step flows, such as welcome series or re-engagement, use the Marketing Automation app. Start with one flow, for example a three-email welcome sequence, before building more.
Consent
Odoo adds unsubscribe links and keeps a blacklist. Import unsubscribes when migrating from another tool so people who opted out stay opted out.
Quick start
- Authenticate your domain.
- Import lists and unsubscribes.
- Build two templates.
- Send a small test campaign.
- Review results and expand.
