Odoo Website SEO: Settings That Actually Matter
Odoo website SEO guide: page titles, meta descriptions, URLs, redirects, sitemaps, page speed, multi-language pages and Google Search Console setup.
The Odoo website builder is easy to use, but good rankings still depend on setup. Here are the settings and habits that make the biggest difference.
Page titles and meta descriptions
Each page, product and blog post has its own title and description. Use the SEO panel in the editor to set them. Keep titles under about 60 characters, put the main keyword near the start, and write descriptions that make people want to click.
Do not leave product pages with default titles. For eCommerce, write unique descriptions for your top products first.
Clean URLs
Odoo creates URLs from page names. Keep them short and readable, such as /services/installation. Avoid changing URLs after launch. If you must, add a redirect.
Redirects
Odoo has a redirect manager for 301 and 302 redirects. Use 301s for permanent moves. When migrating from another platform, map every old URL that has traffic or backlinks before you go live.
Sitemap and robots
Odoo generates a sitemap automatically at /sitemap.xml. Submit it in Google Search Console. Check that pages you do not want indexed, such as test pages, are unpublished.
Headings and content
Use one H1 per page and logical H2 and H3 headings. Write for the reader first. Pages with real answers to customer questions rank better than pages stuffed with keywords.
Page speed
Most slow Odoo sites are slow because of images. Compress images before upload, avoid huge hero videos and limit third-party scripts. Check Core Web Vitals in Search Console after launch.
Multi-language
If you sell internationally, install the languages you need. Odoo creates language-specific URLs and adds hreflang tags. Translate titles and descriptions too, not just page text.
Structured data
Odoo adds some structured data for products. For other rich results, such as FAQs, check what your version outputs and add custom markup where needed.
Search Console checklist
- Verify your domain.
- Submit the sitemap.
- Check the Pages report for errors weekly after launch.
- Fix 404s with redirects.
- Watch which queries bring traffic and improve those pages.
