Frappe HR is the open-source HR and payroll app that runs alongside ERPNext. It covers employee records, attendance and shifts, leave policies, expense claims and advances, appraisals, recruitment and payroll — and posts salaries and expenses straight into ERPNext accounting.

The short version
Payroll is the part that has to be right every month. We configure salary components and structures with your HR and finance teams, run parallel payrolls against your current system, and only switch over when the numbers match.

What we set up
A typical rollout covers the employee lifecycle and payroll together, so attendance and leave flow straight into salary calculations.
Employees and organisation
Employee master data, departments, designations, reporting lines and a self-service portal for staff.
Attendance, shifts and leave
Shift types, check-ins from biometric devices or the mobile app, leave types, policies and holiday lists.
Salary structures
Earnings and deductions with formulas, statutory components such as PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS in India, and tax slabs.
Payroll and accounting
Payroll entries, salary slips, bank payment files and automatic journal postings by cost centre.

Parallel runs before go-live
We run at least two payroll cycles in Frappe HR alongside your current payroll and compare every employee's slip line by line. Differences are traced to a component formula, an attendance rule or source data and fixed before cutover.
Statutory rules change, so salary components and tax slabs are documented and reviewed at the start of each financial year.

Is Frappe HR part of ERPNext?
It is a separate open-source app that installs on the same site as ERPNext. HR and payroll moved out of ERPNext into Frappe HR so the two can be released independently.
Can attendance come from our biometric devices?
Yes. Employee check-ins can be pushed from most biometric devices through the API, either directly or through a small sync service.
Does Frappe HR handle Indian payroll?
Yes. PF, ESI, professional tax, TDS with tax regime selection and tax exemption declarations are supported through salary components and payroll settings, which we configure and verify with your payroll team.
