Example Project · eCommerce
Multi-channel operations for a DTC brand selling on Shopify and Amazon
Example Project
An illustrative project based on recurring patterns. Not a named client; no client results are claimed.
- Industry
- eCommerce
- Previous system
- Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, 3PL portal, Xero, spreadsheets
01 — Problem
The situation
A growing consumer brand sells through Shopify and Amazon, with stock split between Amazon FBA and a third-party warehouse. Inventory is tracked in spreadsheets, purchase orders to overseas suppliers are placed late, and finance cannot reconcile Amazon settlements.
02 — Requirements
What the new system had to do
- One inventory view across FBA and 3PL
- Purchase planning with long overseas lead times
- Shopify and Amazon orders in one place
- Settlement and payout reconciliation
- Margin per SKU after fees, shipping and returns
03 — Solution
The approach
The ERP becomes the inventory, purchasing and accounting backbone. Shopify, Amazon SP-API and the 3PL are integrated. FBA is modelled as a separate warehouse, and inbound shipments to FBA are tracked as transfers.
Settlement reports are parsed into sales, fees and refunds; payouts reconcile through clearing accounts.
04 — Architecture
How it fits together
An integration layer handles Shopify webhooks, Amazon SP-API polling and reports, and 3PL order and shipment exchange, all with idempotent processing and alerts.
Integrations
- — Shopify
- — Amazon SP-API
- — 3PL API
- — Stripe / Shopify Payments
- — Xero (transition)
05 — Implementation
How the work would be phased

06 — Expected outcome
What this design is meant to achieve
The design targets a single, current stock picture across channels, earlier purchase decisions, and margin reporting that includes channel fees and returns.
Outcomes describe the intended operational result of this design, not measured client results.
